Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
